Yoga for Scoliosis focusses on scoliotic pattern in the body. Such as gaining awareness about alignment and instructions on how to find movement out of the pattern. The nervous system is important to work with when working with scoliosis. Therefore, resting poses and breathing are basics in starting your Yoga for Scoliosis practice.
Through gaining awareness on the patterns, slowly lengthening and strengthening can be explored. This enables the body to become more balanced and stabile. Resulting in a less tired back in daily activities.
It is like we are unwinding our scoliosis and pain patterns. This takes time, since the body usually had years to develop and strengthen its pattern in order to protect our body. Therefore, we need patience and persistence in growing conscious movement to get results.

I was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 14. Had a brace for a year and around a 47 degree thoracic curve. At age 23 Irritable Bowel Syndroom was diagnosed. I have different digestive issues, which are all solved at this moment. Through shifting to a healthier whole foods diet and become aware of physical and mental stressors. During my chronic back pain years (2014-2017), my body was in constant stress which affected my hormones, immune system and my mental and emotional state. My body even stopped menstruating to reserve energy. Besides I had different skin issues, such as bumps on my arms and acne on my back and face. Nutrition was a big factor in this. However, cooping with stress and the story and I told myself also had a big impact on my skin issues and overall health.
By investing a lot of time in myself and my education, I found what works for me. Now I am certified ‘Elise Browning Miller Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer’ and graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition as Health Coach.
Now I am ready to coach you in your Health Journey into a bright and healthy future!
Foundation I love my back
Stichting I love my back is a Dutch foundation focussed on supporting different projects related to the back. Their first focus in on empowering Dutch young adults with scoliosis. Jana and Charlotte are the Founders and Board of the Foundation.
Every year there is an event on International Scoliosis Awareness Day, which falls on the last Saturday of June.
